What Happened at the Warhammer Age of Sigmar Open Day!

On August 13th 2016 the halls of Warhammer World hosted the first ever Warhammer Age of Sigmar Open Day, and hundreds of excited fans came to enjoy the experience.

Let’s look at some of what happened at the Warhammer Age of Sigmar Open Day!

Meet the Design Studio Teams

One of the highlights of an Open Day is getting to talk to the creative people who breathe life into the worlds and miniatures you love. At the Warhammer Age of Sigmar Open Day there were ongoing live demonstrations of sculpting and painting from the experts, and dedicated Demonstration Pods delving into more detail.

Many people flocked to see Miniatures Designer Trish Carden revealing her MASSIVE dragon for the first time, which is currently a work in progress for Forge World.

Dioramas Revealed

Seeing work in progress is a rare thing, but the Warhammer World Studio Team surprised visitors to the Open Day with not only their finished Sylvaneth diorama, but also their part built Orruk diorama. The two dioramas show different areas of the same battle, and are coming soon to the Warhammer World Exhibition Centre.

The Clash of Battle

It’s not often you get to play a game with one of it’s writers! Getting dice rolling in the final few days of the Season of War campaign, Warhammer Age of Sigmar fans engaged in their own Bring and Battle games, and special participation games.

Licensed Games

Speaking of gaming, plenty of visitors tried out some more technological game play, taking the chance to try out new computer games.

Golden Demon: Warhammer

Held as part of the Warhammer Age of Sigmar Open Day was a Golden Demon Painting Competition with a theme of Warhammer miniatures. Amazingly intricately painted miniatures kept fans gazing in awe, and 18 Golden Demon trophies were awarded. Martin Waller’s superb painting efforts saw him raise the Slayer Sword for best miniature in show, to the applause of the full Events Hall.

Photos of the miniatures will be coming soon to golden-demon.com, so watch out there, and you can find out about upcoming Golden Demon Painting Competitions here.
