Have you ever had one of those awkward moments where you have to suddenly stop, turn around, and walk back the way you just came from? Imagine the embarrassment of going through the wrong Realmgate in the Mortal Realms…
Paul Billinghurst’s Armies on Parade display is the latest addition to Warhammer World’s regularly changing Guest Displays, showcasing the amazing personal projects created by fans of the hobby.
Inspired by an article in White Dwarf, Paul was also keen to include the running peasant from the Giant kit, so his Flesh-eater Court display came together to showcase the miniatures with a touch of humour.
To keep the creative juices flowing, Paul watched numerous horror flicks while he built and painted the display, and the copious amounts of blood stand out in fantastic contrast against his unearthly pale stone ruins. With a very dark tone for the earth of the board, there’s an unsettling feeling that a lot more blood has soaked in over the years.
Paul’s miniatures contain many small touches which tie them into the collection and display board. Using Fenrisian Wolves as Dire Wolves, Paul has given them glowing blue eyes to show their otherworldly nature, and some of his Crypt Ghouls have mouths full of red dripping flesh, echoing the pits of flesh in the scenery.
Come and see this great display for yourself at the Warhammer World Exhibition before it leaves us in April – And see all the other Guest Displays, thousands of our professionally painted miniatures, and over 20 specially built dioramas.
