Blending and Textures
At this Masterclass Weekend, you will be show you how to blend properly and paint textures such as cloth, leather and so on. This Masterclass will impart a set of skills to the attendee that will impact on their painting forever – blending is one of the key techniques that can be used on any model, and understanding how to paint textures such as cloth or leather properly is something you will return to time and again.
Day One – Lesson One – Blending
- This lesson will consist of a series of techniques ‘Eavy Metal uses to get that smooth, rich blend they are so famous for. This has limitless applications from robes to cloaks, banners to blades, making it usable on literally any model you might paint. This is a skill that any great painter needs to master to progress on their path to glory.
Day One – Lesson Two – Textures
- How to identify and paint a wide variety of different textures. Wood, cloth, carapace, armour, leather rough, smooth – you name it, the ‘Eavy Metal team are going to show you how it’s done. This is again, an important facet of miniature painting to master if you want to your models to really stand out as no model is every one simple texture – mastering cloth and leather especially, along with parchment gives you the perfect toolkit to paint any model you choose to.
Day Two – One on One Time
This time is your time to do with as you please. You can get detailed advice about specific techniques, get feedback on models, get help with Golden Demon entries – pretty much anything that relates to painting is fair game, and the ’Eavy Metal member will there to not only talk you through it, but we’ll have the equipment on hand for them to show you too.
We will ask you if there is anything specific you would like to see on day one, and match you with a painter we think is best suited to answer your question.
You can even ask for advice on subjects not covered by any of our courses, but as your time is limited, you may wish to stick to subjects from the previous day. Examples include:
Blending – Colour choice and specific details for cloaks or cloth that you are working on.
Textures – From Purity Seals to Cloaks, find out exactly how to get the finish you want for your models. Maybe you want to see a cracked, broken leather like on Mortarion’s loin cloth, or the smooth finish to a Primaris Captain’s Cloak – the choices are yours.
When you are not spending time in a one on one, you can practice the previous days skills using our facilities, or, once your one on one is over, you can even take an early trip if you have planes to catch or traffic to skip!
This Masterclass will set you up so that you will be in a great place to tackle one of the most demanding techniques in miniature painting – Non-Metallic Metals, which is the third and final Masterclass in this series.
