As you are probably aware by now, a new set of rules for Warhammer 40,000 is on the way!
Naturally the Events Team got extremely excited when we heard that a new edition was en route. We’re still going to be running our amazing Warhammer 40,000 gaming weekends, such as Doubles Weekends, Throne of Skulls and Campaign Weekends throughout all of this year and well into the future (so don’t panic, we aren’t going anywhere)!
Then came the interesting decision of which event to put on first and we thought that putting together a smaller army for the new game would be easier than a larger one, so a Doubles Weekend fit the bill perfectly!

Army Size & Army Selection – what do we bring?
One of the most important questions to ask yourself before you start preparing for an Doubles Weekend is of course, what models are you going to put in your army!
This event will be our first to use the new set of rules for Warhammer 40,000, because we thought that putting together a smaller army for the new game would be easier than a larger one. Of course this begs the question – what size armies should you get ready to take?
- Each player selects a force worth up to 1000 points. (2000 points total).
- Army list Points do not carry over between players.
- Your two forces are selected totally separately of each other.
- Both armies are selected separately. Each army generating its own Command points individually that then add to a “team” pool that can be spent across both armies.
Scenarios in use:
Each game will be played using a predetermined mission from the Maelstrom of War missions found on pages 230-235 of the Warhammer 40,000 Rulebook.
